Amazing story but ultimately, was it creative thinking, or just flat-out bravado and luck? They played the odds and won. They couldn't have known in advance that the watching sub would pop off for a recharge, that low cloud, over 240 bombers, two Spitfires, multiple torpedo boats, destroyers and mines would all try- and fail- to do for them. Imagine the adrenaline levels on those ships as circumstance threw its all at them- and failed! They must have felt blessed by "God". And after all that, just a few short years later... they lost the war anyway. I'm not in advertising, but it sure sounds like a battlefield... good luck to anyone who makes a decision, sticks to it and prevails against the odds, whatever the arena! It's how history is made ;-)
