Percy was an engineer.
He was an NCO in the Home Guard when WWII broke out.
Churchill found him, brought back into the regular army as an officer, and put him in charge of a new kind of tank warfare.
His engineered tanks were known as Hobart’s “Funnies”.
D Day may have had a very different outcome if not for the “Funnies”.
